Generation Y also known as Millennials are categorized by individuals born between 1980 – mid-1990s. Generation Y is also known as the Echo Boomers because of the increase in the birth rate in the 1980s and 1990s. On the other hand, Generation Z also known as GenZ are categorized by people born between mid-1990- mid-2000s. Other names for Generation Z are “I-Generation”, “I-Gen”, or “Post Millennial”.
The expansion of the internet and the parenting influence of different generations have caused many differences in attitude and behavior of the two side by side generation.
1. Progressing Information
Generation Z are quick in processing information as compared to the other generations.
2. Attention Span
Generation Z have low attention span because they live in a world where there are constant updates and numerous social media platforms.
Even though Generation Z have low attention span they are good in multitasking. You might have seen many post-millennials watching the television and using their phone at the same time.
Generation Z believes in doing things themselves; in order to get the work done faster. They are extremely competitive. But that is not the case with millennials. Millennials would rather work collaboratively.
Generation Z is less tolerant than Millennials. This is because millennials have encountered situations where things have gone wrong. However, if Generation Z faces an inconvenient situation they would find for an alternative.
6. Living in digital history
Millennials witnessed how the use of the internet revolutionized the world around us. They witnessed the launch of instant messaging, smartphones, and the internet. However, Generation Z was born in this society.
7. Ways of learning
Majority of individuals belonging to Generation Z believe that there are different ways of learning rather than attending an educational institute.
8. Social Media Influencer
Unlike, Millennials Generation Z would be busy watching YouTube influencers. They would rather meet real people rather than celebs.
