Good afternoon, Netizens... Thanks to NPR, I finally have a copy of Palin's speech which was given by her at a rally in Dayton, Ohio. The reason this speech was not cited, as were Obama's, is that it was not an acceptance speech, but rather a speech before a rally. As such I did not construe it to be nearly as important as her acceptance speech will be when given during the Republican Convention, when or if that takes place. Here, then, is the speech Sarah Palin gave during a rally: And I tha
A pal of mine just sent me through a picture of National’s new Billboard with the comment “boring and bland”. Which I see The Standard has already blogged about (damn you, technical difficulties with uploading images or I would’ve been the first!) To me this billboard is a step above those that we saw last election campaign because it only manages to boil down the policies of one party into a vague statement of intent. In fact the calming blue planes remind me of tropical holidays and almost
partisan hackery The new politics of the Obama fans — sheep, I call them — sure looks a lot like the old politics. Is it too much to ask that attacks on Governor Palin are based on facts and not idle speculation by the Daily Kos and Andrew Sullivan??? I’m not going to give either site the benefit of a link because they should be ashamed of themselves for printing the rumors about Governor Palin’s son Trig actually being her daughter’s child. No proof here…but why should that surprise us? I
The Missing Will Power In Jordan’s Energy Future 01Sep08 If you’ve been following the local news this past week you’ll notice Jordan is set to purchase a brand-spanking new nuclear reactor from France, while building the country’s first, 40 megawattwind farm. Meanwhile, the non-stop chatter of oil-shale production (which I can guarantee won’t see efficient, full-scale commercial production for at least another decade) is still making the news. I’m still not convinced of the government’s d
Raids All Over Minneapolis: Feds Involved Hurricane Gustav is doing a good job of shutting down the Republican Nominating Convention. Bush and Cheney have sent their regards and McCain has hightailed it to Louisiana with his hoop-earringed running mate to make grand pronouncements about his a-political stunt. Meanwhile, raids have been conducted all over Minneapolis in search of anyone to the left of Alberto Gonzales. Several sites to follow this. Jane Hamsher at FireDogLake has videos of
Both the Obama campaign and the McCain have had the opportunity to make a single major decision which demonstrates whether they are ready to govern. While Obama has chosen Joe Biden, who is prepared to take over as president if necessary and who probably knows more about foreign policy than anyone in Washington, McCain has chosen a running mate who is unfit to be vice president. Joe Klein discusses the what we can learn about McCain by this poor choice: All this raises again–yet again–the que
Feeling an economic crunch these days? Charities are feeling the pinch too and charitable donations are decreasing, according to The Center on Philanthropy. Luckily for us, there’s a way to do good buying the things we love. Great companies have teamed up with charities to make philanthropy an easy part of every day life. Take care of yourself and take care of others by purchasing fragrances that make donations to charities. Why not put your money to work double time? You’ll have an air of gene
Sometimes I feel bad for Andrea Mitchell, after all she is so homely that she had to marry Alan Greenspan, a grandfather substitute. But that doesn't excuse her total lack of impartiality. Its not even that her analysis is skewed, she acts like an attack dog for the Obama Campaign. Like today's Meet the Press for instance where she said only the UNEDUCATED Hillary Clinton Supporters would consider voting for Sarah Palin: NBC's Andrea Mitchell: Only Hillary's Uneducated Voters will Vote For Sa
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is said to have fired a top law enforcement official in her administration because he had failed to dismiss a state trooper who was involved in a divorce with her sister. This month, a bipartisan panel of state legislators appointed an independent investigator to look into the case, and if true, it could besmirch her credentials as a champion of ethics, says the New York Times. State Senator Hollis S. French II, a Democrat and former prosecutor who is directing t
