Republicans and Comedy / 3G iPhone

Filed under: Uncategorized — The Bored Blog @ 11:25 pm
3, a mobile phone company owned by Li "Boom Boom" Ka-Shing, he of the megabucks and moron sons, has announced that they've signed the deal for the iPhone for Hong Kong. Since 3 exclusively offers 3G phones, that's further proof that the 3G iPhone is just around the corner, if you needed further proof. What they did not announce: the date, the price or if they will offer a flat rate plan with unlimited internet. I'm still waiting to see what else the phone will include besides 3G. Ah, who am I

And Then There’s David Frum REALLY Trashing Bush

Filed under: Uncategorized — The Bored Blog @ 11:25 pm
Sure, Scott McClellan trashed George Bush in his yet to be published memoir of time in the Bush administration. But former Canadian immigrant, former Bush speechwriter, and current neo-con columnist David Frum REALLY trashes Bush for hiring people like McClellan in the first place. George W. Bush brought most of his White House team with him from Texas. Except for Karl Rove, these Texans were a strikingly inadequate bunch. Harriet Miers, Alberto Gonzalez, Karen Hughes, Al Hawkins, Andy Card (th

There’s an interesting paradox about Kevin Rudd’s personality which has come to light in recent days, in the wake of the furore over a series of leaks early last week. It’s this - that like a number of other PMs in the past, Kevin Rudd has a temper and can be a bastard to work for. What’s surprising about that? It certainly would be no surprise to a lot of people who worked in the Queensland public sector in the Goss era. Is it surprising more generally? Perhaps not - political leadership attra

plezWorld’s Saturday with the DNC

plezWorld was awaken this morning by the television blaring the opening gavel and a call to order by Democratic National Committee (DNC) Rules and Bylaws Committee Co-Chair Alexis Herman. I took a few moments to listen to the co-chair comments before getting dressed for the day. Not much time to dawdle on Saturday mornings, as it is my duty to chauffeur the SugarPlum to her ballet lesson. I had the foresight to hit the record button on the DVR before we left for the ballet studio in Buckhead

Primary Rundown

You've seen as much of the results as you need, right? If not, the Secretary of State has something unofficial for the federal and state races now. For Presidential preference, it was Ron Paul in 2nd place behind John McCain; 24% of the "Republican" votes were more than 56% of the "Democratic" votes cast in the solid victory for Obama over Clinton. (I "quote" because we have no registration, or bar to voting the party of your choice in the primary; unless of course your choice is something

Oh my God! The spastic idiocy of some people! So Dunkin' Donuts runs an ad on its Web site featuring Rachael Ray holding a cup of the company’s iced coffee while wearing a black-and-white fringed scarf. Along comes conservative bloggers Charles Johnson and Michelle Malkin et al. and suddenly Rachael's the scarf became a keffiyeh presto, Dunkin' Donuts has at “jihadi chic.” Of course this spreads all over the Internet faster than a computer virus and the next thing you know, Dunkin' Donuts r

Coffee Jihad

Early this past May, Dunkin’ Donuts began running an ad on its Web site and others, featuring the celebrity chef Rachael Ray, chef at the trendy spot Hamburger Mary's, owned by The Pooses for Peace. Rachel was holding a cup of the company’s crappy calorie filled iced coffee while wearing a black-and-white fringed scarf. A few days later, the conservative blog Little Green Footballs posted an item that likened Ms. Ray’s scarf to the type typically worn by Muslim extremists. The blog said that
